Product Description

The PowerShot G3 X delivers stunning image quality with a huge 1.0-type back-illuminated CMOS sensor. Merging Canon’s first class optics, a versatile 25x optical zoom range, and DSLR-levels of manual control, the PowerShot G3 X gives you the freedom to get closer to subjects as you travel, explore and shoot on the move. Ideal for stunning nature shots, or capturing all the detail of a sports game, the PowerShot G3 X is the must have choice for expert photographers who demand impeccable results.

Whether you’re at a sports match or tracking wildlife running through a forest, the camera’s 25x optical zoom, equivalent to a huge 24-600mm, helps you get even closer to subjects, without losing the stunning clarity needed for truly beautiful shots. For the responsiveness and performance advanced photographers demand, the PowerShot G3 X is powered by Canon’s DIGIC 6 processor, delivering extreme speed, and for confident shooting in challenging light, the camera’s HS system can render beautiful vivid detail in low light with up to ISO 12,800. Designed to keep up with fast subjects, the PowerShot G3 X offers continuous shooting at 5.9 shots a second, ensuring you catch all the action wherever you are. In addition, the camera’s fast autofocus ensures every shot is crisp and in focus.

A large 1.0 type 20.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor delivers incredible image quality even in low light situations. Bigger pixels offer increased dynamic range, so pictures contain extra detail in bright highlights and dark shadows.

Keep your footage steady, whether you’re shooting as you walk down a city street, or travelling in high-speed transport, with Intelligent IS and the advanced 5-axis Dynamic IS mode. The 5-axis IS includes Rotating axis IS, Horizontal rotating IS, Vertical rotating axis IS and Up, Down, Left and Right IS.

The PowerShot G3X features an entirely new 16.2 Megapixel capacitive LCD screen that can tilt up 180 degrees and down 45 degrees for flexible shooting in any number of situations and angles. Touch-sensitive, it delivers intuitive touch panel operation and review. Menu and quick control settings can be accessed, and focus point and shutter release can be activated with the touch of a fingertip using Touch AF. Displaying fine detail, it's the perfect screen for composing and reviewing images. The screen is designed so that reflections are minimized and colours are realistically reproduced, and the display can be viewed, without glare, from any number of angles.

Its 25x Optical Zoom lens gives the PowerShot G3 X the ability to capture subjects at great distances, but because it can be challenging to track a moving subject at maximum telephoto, the camera includes sophisticated technology to help you get the most from the camera's powerful zoom while simply enjoying shooting. When you press and hold the Zoom Framing Assist button, the camera will zoom out to include a wider angle of view, enabling you to more easily locate your moving subject. Once you find it, releasing the button will cause the lens to return to its original zoom position, intelligently keeping the subject in focus until you're ready to shoot and capture the perfect close-up moment. You can even make zoom adjustments while the button is pressed, with an animated assist frame that makes viewing easy. When the button is released, the lens will return to the adjusted zoom position. Zoom Framing Assist also lets you select an image area (Face/Upper Body/Whole Body/Manual), then keeps that area of your subject the same size in your frame no matter how the subject moves. For instance, you can tap the Zoom Framing Assist button to detect your subject's face. As your subject retreats and advances the camera automatically zooms in and out so their face remains the same size. It's especially useful for capturing the expressions of fast-moving children, and for letting a friend take a picture after you've composed the shot.
