The new Nikon 1 series has been released, featuring two digital cameras with interchangeable lenses – the Nikon J1 and V1.
Both models share very similar specifications, including a 10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, EXPEED 3 image processor, 3- inch LCD screen and can shoot 1080i60 video.
The J1 and V1 also feature a Smart Photo Selector mode. When this mode is in use, the camera captures five frames and presents the best image. The frames are recorded so the photographer can still choose their own favourite.
The V1 is the higher-end model of the two. It sports a larger magnesium alloy body, mechanical shutter, electronic viewfinder and an external microphone jack. It also features a higher resolution LCD screen with 921,000 pixels, compared to 460,000 on the J1.
The J1 is a more compact, simpler, aluminium alloy model that comes in a wide range of colours and includes a built-in flash – a feature not included on the more expensive V1. The V1 does however come equipped with a multi-accessory port for attaching an optional flash.
