Canon has released the 5D Mark II and no doubt enthusiasts will be excited to see what has been added in the upgrade from the hugely successful 5D.
Both cameras sport a similar sized magnesium alloy body and the control panels will be familiar to those who have used the 5D.
The new features include an increase in megapixels from 12.8 to a whopping 21.1, a new DiG!C 4 processor (formally DiG!C II) , ISO expansion to 25,600 and an improved weather-resistant body.
Many SLR’s are now featuring Live View and the 5D II does not disappoint. Movies and stills can be viewed on the 3 inch, 921,000 dot LCD screen through the newly added Live View function. The ability to record full high definition movies in Live View is also an added bonus.
The new features certainly bring some improvements from the 5D however the new Mark II still has some tough competition in the market with Nikon and Sony. A comparison of how the EOS 5D Mark II compares to its major competitors is displayed in the following table;
