The EOS 60D has been released by Canon, replacing the EOS 50D in the DSLR market. Featuring the same DIGIC 4 processor, the key highlights include an 18 megapixel CMOS sensor, 3 inch articulated LCD screen and HD movie capacity.

The design differs slightly from its predecessor, most noticeably the body is smaller and lighter (8% weight saving) as it is plastic rather than magnesium alloy and the controls have been simplified.

The 60D is the first EOS camera to feature an articulated screen; the vari-angle LCD is much more versatile than the fixed design of previous models and provides flexibility for shooting still images and video at different angles. The screen can also be flipped for conventional viewing through the optical viewfinder. The images on the screen appear bright and sharp (1.04-million pixels).

The High Definition video comes with complete manual control as well as an external microphone for adjusting sound levels. There is also a HDMI port enabling both images and video to be viewed on any compatible HD TV which makes it easy to share with friends and family.

A further comparison of the models is listed in the following table;
