The Canon EOS 600D boasts some impressive features for its entry-level DSLR category. Slotting in at the upper entry-level range, above the award winning 550D, it has the same high resolution 18-megapixel CMOS sensor and DiG!C 4 image processor. Therefore it goes without saying that this camera creates the same stunning image detail we have seen in the 550D.

The two cameras have a very similar look and feel, with the 600D being slightly heavier, mostly due to the newly articulated screen; which most would agree is well worth the extra weight. Entering Live View takes a few seconds (if we have to be picky) which can be a little frustrating at times.

The HD video quality is superb, as with the 550D it really would be hard for anyone in this price bracket to come close. It comes with an added Movie Snapshot mode and the internal microphone seems to have brought an improvement to the audio which is an added bonus.

Although there are not as many changes as one would expect with an upgrade from the 550D, the articulated screen and wireless flash control has brought improvements to an already great camera.

The EOS 600D is ideal for high-speed shooting, making it easy to capture children and animals on the move. The image quality is excellent and it is simple enough for beginners to use. This combined with the exceptional clarity of the HD video makes this camera a suitable choice for anyone wanting to progress from a digital camera to a SLR as well as enthusiasts looking for a change.
