Canon has released the EOS 1100D into its entry-level range, replacing the 1000D. It is designed with beginners in mind and features an on-screen guide and easy to use controls.
It has a similar look and feel to its predecessor, with the most noticeable change to its exterior being a larger LCD screen. Internally, almost every feature has been tweaked and upgraded - making it worth the wait for this new addition to the entry-level DSLR market.
The 1100D boasts some significant upgrades, including a new 12 megapixel CMOS sensor, DiG!C4 processor, High Definition video recording, 9 autofocus points, 100-6400 ISO sensitivity and a 2.7 inch LCD screen.

For beginners to SLR cameras, the intuitive on-screen feature guide provides support on the cameras functions, making it easy to learn new photography skills and become familiar with SLR technology. The larger (fixed) LCD screen, along with Live View, will also be appreciated by new SLR users that are used to compact cameras when viewing video and still images.
The EOS 1100D is an excellent package for anyone new to SLR technology. It has all the features needed for a beginner, complete with an affordable price tag. As an added bonus, it comes in a range of colours, which is a refreshing change in the SLR market.
The 1100D would be a suitable choice for amateur photographers looking to upgrade from a compact camera or from the EOS 1000D and other similar models that do not offer video mode.
